Patrick Mulberry began his practice in the new towns that sprang up along the northwest coast of Florida durning the eighties and ninties. In an area of the Panhandle that was once known as the "Redneck Riveria" resort communities were created based on the ideas of town planning first introduced as New Urbanism. Seaside Rosemary Beach and others set strict standards in the form of building codes that encouraged human scale of architecture and easy social interaction. The codes imposed a consistent civic fabric yet allowed architects the opportunity to create unique designs.
